4our Pillars 7th Hip Hop Event Thu 7/7/15

The 4our Pillars are proud to announce that they're holding the 7th Hip Hop event on Thursday 2nd July 2015
The 4our Pillars events are funded and run by some of the founding artists of the UK Hip Hop scene that helped pave the way for many of todays' young MC's. Our events incorporate the main 4 elements of Hip Hop (BBoy-ing, DJ-ing, Graffiti and MC's) under one roof for the night.
Once again we're bringing the event to the famous Bussey Building in South East London
Our last six Hip Hop events have been very successful and we anticipate this event to be our biggest to date which should not be missed. As many people know by now, we always have surprise guests at our events..
Those that attended our last event in December 2014 got to witness New York's very own Cormega grace us with his presence on stage to perform for the masses.
Details of confirmed acts are:
Host: Big Ted
Acts:

"Poptimism" - Vinnie Nylon 1st Solo Gallery Show @ High Roller Society Gallery, Bethnal Green London 8/9/12 - 7/9/12

Nylon Blackbook sketch for The Kool Skool from 2001
Not only is Nylon one of the cleanest painters and a serious hard worker, but he is is a longtime friend of The Kool Skool. Check out his solo show "Poptimism" - Vinnie Nylon 1st Solo Gallery Show @ High Roller Society Gallery, Bethnal Green London 8/9/12 - 7/9/12

Poptimism private view and drinks Friday September 7th 6-9pm. The exhibition will run at the gallery from the 8th September – 7th October 2012.

High Roller Society Gallery - 10 Palmers Road - Bethnal Green (next to the bridge over the Regents canal) E2 OSY. Number 8 bus from Liverpool Street/ Bethnal Green Station

Welcome to Poptimism, the first solo show in London by Vinnie Nylon.
Vinnie Nylon has been involved in the street art and graffiti movement for over 25 years, producing walls, print, paintings, graphics and billboards for a variety of small and international companies and commissioners.
This all new body of work is born out of a lifelong collecting obsession, a visual playground in which all of the collected toys and mascots meet head on, a collision designed to level the fields of high and low art. Where old meets new and ultra cute takes on a slightly sinister undertone.
Since the mid 90s Vinnie Nylon has been placing an army of candy coloured characters and advertising mascots onto canvas and walls. A new spin on old favourites, a savage twist on others, all harking back to a simpler post war era when the distinction between childhood and adulthood was so much clearer.
Lost icons that are no longer employed to distract us from the austerity of mid century Britain and America take on their new guise to reclaim their rightful place in a new visual universe.
Television as smokescreen, popular as social acceptance, reality sugar coated with a big goofy smile slapped on it. Poptimism reintroduces, reevaluates and explores the themes of seduction by ad media, sentimental attachment and mass production.
The works on show include vintage petrol cans, sticker art, fanzine and screen print as well as a number of new paintings and mixed media pieces. Trademark bright colours and thick impasto sit beside the more demure offerings of hand finished print and collage pieces.
The frame is the door that leads into a world of visual pop delights and plastic fantastic high low art for all to enjoy, so step inside and keep it pop, never stop playing.

Nylon featured in our exclusive video of 'Haters' - Heavy Artillery Crew Graffiti Exhibition from late 2009

Is This The Last We've Seen Of Lowkey? [UK Debate S02 E36]
Lowkey's Facebook Post » http://j.mp/JdLSrG

After hearing the news that Lowkey has decided to quit music for a while, the debaters got together to discuss some of the reasons why he may have quit, his influence and style as well as how he broke the news to his dedicated fans regarding his decision.

The following are a few of the issues and questions raised in the debate:
- Why might Lowkey need time out of the game?
- Was Lowkey showing respect to his fans by addressing them regarding his decision?
- Is Lowkey right in saying the music scene is very egotistical?
- Was Lowkey in the game just to deliver his message?

UK Hip-Hop Producer, DJ & Ex Itch FM Family, Ghost presents: 'A Tale of Life In VI Parts' New EP

UK Hip-Hop Producer, DJ & Ex Itch FM Family, Ghost presents:
'A Tale of Life In VI Parts' EP

"They say the best music is created in times of hardship. Hardship can be many different things in many different ways but everyone experiences hardship in one way or another over the course of a lifetime. We all know music has the ability to influence the way people feel and for musicians it can be a way for them to deal with situations in life. Countless artists have produced music reflective of what’s happening around them, inside them, it’s the expression that’s important."
