Disco Scratch Radio 48 – UK Hip-Hop Legend MC Mell ‘O’ Part 1

Disco Scratch Radio 48 – MC Mell ‘O’ Part 1
In his search the True Perspective of the UK Hip-Hop history, our Brother Waxer has interviewed MC Mell ‘O’, one of the Koolest, Positive and Knowledgable MC's the UK has ever produced.
Disco Scratch Radio on Sensei.FM Here

"The UK has produced some incredible MCs… this small island we call home has had B Boys, Poppers, Lockers, DJs & Writers from a very early era in the development of the UK music scene. The man I spoke with tonight lived through the inception of the UK Hip Hop scene, became actively involved in it RIGHT FROM THE START and continues to represent up til now.
If you don’t know this British rappers heritage, this interview will bring you up to speed… at least in his formative years. The interview is only the first part of this legacy. Mello goes into proper depth with the melting pot of people in Battersea, South London that influenced his career and helped him carve his individual path through the fledgling scene right to present day. Not many MCs can rip up a mic after reppin’ for nearly 30 years! Here’s one that can and do it with depth, professionalism, attitude & knowledge.
I’ll be analysing the interview over the coming week and updating the database to reflect the people, places & subjects covered in this interview. Until then, pour some knowledge into your ear canals, add a couple of spoonfulls of dub, roots, funk & soul into the mix, sprinkle it with rough rhymes, B Boy mentality and fold in staying power, cook for 30 years & you’ll get Mell ‘O’."

Visual Caffine - Episode 2

VISUAL CAFFEINE - Episode #2 from SEN ONE UZN on Vimeo.

"Nowhere else could have spawned the breakbeat. New York City is filled with rhythm. From the windows of the brick huts, to the gallop of our horses we are surrounded by beats. Wait a minute-did he say horses? The iron horses of our transit system party people. Sit back and enjoy our tribute to the breakbeat-or as we like to call it "The Rhythm of the City"." SEN ONE UZN

Battersea/Vauxhall/PatMore London Hall of Fame R.I.P.

Battersea/Vauxhall/PatMore London Hall of Fame R.I.P.

The Battersea Hall of Fame was a major illegal Graffiti Hall Of Fame in the dark depths of South London from the early 90's to around 2002, not everyone knew about it but many people painted there. It is a series of huge train Track support walls that rose above the junk dealers in Nine Elms, Battersea opposite the Patmore Estate Drury House, on Stewarts Road.

"I remember Color doing this just after i got done for being Dice, he bombed everywhere Dise is innocent!. He went and racked some homestyles from Texas homecare in Wandsworth, and freestyled this on the wasteground. It was summer '93 i think." - Dice

Juliet by Color 1993 Photo courtesy of Imerse ID
"Juliet" Color's misses. He'd just got together with her, so he was doing a lot of Juliet pieces including a top-to bottom wholecar on a northern line all in buntlacks! lol. Give him retrospective props....He did this one on his jacks, when battersea was hot, all racked paint from Texas homecare in Wandsworth again! He also wrote "New" for a year or two, also did a few New district lines." - Dice

At the end alot of people were getting arrested there. One day as we were climbing through the fence to scope it out, we saw a bunch of writers getting bagged by British Transport Police. That day Neas told us about another Hall Of Fame not far, so he took us to Wandsworth instead, and the rest is history....
The Battersea Hall of Fame is a gated business now
