Paris-Tonkar "The French Graffiti Scenes Version of Subway Art"

Paris-Tonkar The French Graffiti scenes version of Subway Art

Paris-Tonkar "Graffiti art in Paris and France in the 1980s."
Doriath, Ben Yakhlef Format : 21 X 24 à l'italienne. Prix Public TTC: 190 FF. ISBN: 2-908382-09-6. 1990?

This book was legendary, and instrumental in the European Graffiti scene, as there were very few books, if any back then. Many of the writers who featured in the book came to London in the late 80's early 90's and their ridiculously fat-cap tags were everywhere in the West End, and it really influenced London Handstyles.

Nasty 2008

The book documents the groundbreaking Paris scene walls, Subways "Le Metro", and loads of street bombing, with names like (London ex-pat) Mode2, Bando, Nasty, Stem and many more. Its very hard to track down but if you see a copy grab it!

We recently mentioned Siba Giba originally from Paris, a French American Hip-Hop artist, Producer and Journalist . He has released two books, one a Hip-Hop version of the famous original Paris Graffiti Book 'Paris-Tonkar', featuring interviews with KRS-One, Tim Dog, and others in 1992. More info here

Dr. David Kelly New Inquest Instigated by 6 Senior Doctors

Six senior doctors have begun legal action to force a new inquest into the death of Dr David Kelly, the scientist who died days after being exposed as the source of a controversial BBC story on the Iraq war. Info here

The death of Government scientist David Kelly returned to haunt Labour today as a group of doctors announced that they were mounting a legal challenge to overturn the finding of suicide.

Dr Kelly's body was found six years ago this week in woods close to his Oxfordshire home, shortly after he was exposed as the source of a BBC news report questioning the grounds for war in Iraq.

Unusually, no coroner's inquest was held into his death.

The only official verdict has come from the Hutton Inquiry, commissioned by Tony Blair, which concluded that Dr Kelly, 59, died from loss of blood after cutting his wrist with a blunt gardening knife.

Critics regarded the report as a 'whitewash', and Mr Blair remains acutely sensitive to the accusation that he has 'blood on his hands' over the scientist's death.

These Are Some Of Our Favourites!

Its nearly been a year since The Kool Skool started blogging. As some of you may, or may not know, we have been involved in many artistic excapades for many years before that, and professional journalism is one of them. After many of the mags ebbed away and chasing up "Editors" for jobs, or waiting 3 1/2 months for £125 checks we decided to go it alone. The Kool Skool website with the 150+ interviews is getting closer to a reality, you will have to put up with this until then...

But in true Kool Skool fashion we are adding on, and spreading love to the blogs that have inspired us, and kept us moving... To those who deserve it, thank you for the support!

I had to start with the first blog I ever saw, and the reason there is even a Kool Skool Blog. Its by an ally of ours Kid Dynomite. Kid Dynomite is one of those miracles of the U.K. Hip-Hop scene, it starts with an understated "come to my house and hang out, check some of my records." When you get there after the 4th or 5th "have you got this 12" you realize how shaky your record collection actually is. The depression sets in then the Sneaker/Trainer/Kicks collection comes out, and you start feeling light headed... Kid Dyno is a great guy, Hip-Hop giant, and Itch family member, and knows his history, support him here
